Self-Defense techniques are a means of practicing basic simulations of an attack (rather than a fight simulation such as sparring). Practicing self-defense techniques involves an attacker engaging in a specific assault, and the defender executing a prearranged defense in response to the attack. The purpose of self-defense is to defuse a confrontation as quickly as possible, while executing the minimal force necessary to nullify the situation. Koshiki dojo practices defenses against grabs, strikes, kicks, multiple attackers and attackers with weapons.
